Program Strengths
At the elementary level. the gifted seminar program focuses on the development of cognitive skills while enriching and extending a student learning environment. Students apply and extend their skills as they complete units of study that are designed to challenge their interests and abilities, use research skills and develop independent study skills. The Summer Academy through Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12 is offered as an opportunity for students to pursue areas of academic interest during the summer.
Middle school gifted students choose from a variety of sessions offered during the six-day cycle including Computer Education, Internet Research, and Introduction to Foreign Language. The students develop cognitive and leadership skills while continuing to develop independent study and research skills. Grades are given for each session scheduled into the student’s schedule. High school students choose from a variety of curricular options when scheduling their individual schedules and coursework. Honors level courses, advanced placement courses, independent study, and participation in local college courses are options for students. Career exploration, preparation for college admission, application to the Governor’s School, college visitations, and job shadowing are also available to students who are interested in developing goals into their Individual Education Programs. The Ambassador Program also offers an opportunity for students to develop strong leadership skills and participate in international study.
