This is the website of the Bermudian Springs School District. 

Introduction & Scope:

Bermudian Springs School District (BSSD) is committed to protecting the privacy of our students, staff, and community members while leveraging digital tools to enhance learning and productivity. 1  This Privacy Statement explains how the BSSD Technology Department collects, manages, and protects data when you use District-managed devices (such as iPads, laptops, and desktop computers) and District-provided enterprise cloud accounts.

Information We Collect & Monitor:

When utilizing the District network, logging into a BSSD enterprise account (such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace), or operating a District-managed device, the Technology Department collects and logs data necessary for security, system performance, and educational support.

This includes:

  • Account Information: Name, district email address (@bermudian.org), role (student/staff), and login timestamps.
  • Device Inventory: Device hardware specifications, operating system versions, serial numbers, applications installed by the district, and device compliance status.
  • Network Activity: Web traffic logs, IP addresses, and time spent online while connected to the BSSD network or using district-managed filtering software off-campus to ensure compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
  • Security Logs: Attempted unauthorized access, malware detection, and potential violations of the District's Responsible Use Agreement.

Device Management & User Transaparency:

BSSD utilizes Mosyle as its Mobile Device Management (MDM) software to safely provision, update, and secure school-owned equipment. We believe in complete transparency regarding what our technology administrators can and cannot view on your managed device.

What Support CAN See or Do:

  • View device model, serial number, and operating system.
  • View names of apps installed by the district or through the Mosyle School App.
  • Remotely wipe a lost or stolen school-owned device to protect district data.
  • Enforce security settings, such as requiring a device passcode or pin.

What Support CANNOT See or Do: 

  • We cannot view your personal photos, videos, or camera roll.
  • We cannot read personal text messages, emails, or chat logs from private accounts.
  • We cannot see your personal passwords.
  • We cannot track geographical location data on personal devices (BYOD), and location tracking on school-owned property is reserved strictly for tracking lost or stolen hardware.

Student Data Privacy & Third Party Applications:

In accordance with COPPA, Bermudian Springs School District balances the protection of student privacy with access to robust digital educational resources. BSSD acts on behalf of parents to consent to the collection of student information exclusively for educational use by pre-approved web-based applications (such as Sapphire and Canvas).

  • District-managed accounts are strictly meant for school-appropriate purposes.
  • The District does not sell, rent, or lease user data to third-party advertisers or commercial entities.

Expectations of Privacy:

As outlined in our Technology Usage Policy and Agreement:

Notice: The devices and network infrastructure belong entirely to the District. Using them is a privilege, not a right. BSSD technology personnel and administrators reserve the right to review district-owned devices, digital work, and account activities at any time to maintain a safe, secure, and compliant learning environment.
