Mrs. Tracy Smith
I want to take the opportunity to introduce myself and let you know how excited I am to be working with your child this school year. In getting to know me better, I am married and a mother of two grown boys. My husband owns his own industrial company located in Emigsville. Both of our sons went to college to become engineers. My oldest son, Brandon, is an industrial engineer and attended Penn State University. He currently works for Nestlé Waters in Allentown in the bottling industry. He is married and has two sons that are very precious to their grandparents. My youngest son, Shane, is a mechanical engineer and attended the University of Delaware. While there, he played football for four years. One of the highlights of his college career was that he played on the Delaware football team with the Ravens’ quarterback, Joe Flacco. Shane currently works for McCormick at a plant in Hunt Valley, Maryland, as a maintenance manager. He was just married this past June. One addition that Shane and his new wife have brought to the family is their Great Dane, Priam. He is a ten month old puppy that weighs almost 130 pounds, and he still thinks that he is a lap dog!
I am not new to a classroom setting. Before entering York College, I spent 14 years as a computer and math aide here at Bermudian Springs Middle School. As my love of teaching resurfaced and my children graduated from high school, I decided that I no longer had anything holding me back from pursuing my dream of becoming a teacher. After four long years of being a student, I happily graduated from York College in May of 2010.
Our family loves to spend time at the beach and on the ski slopes! Our favorite beach location is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, but recently we have found a new spot. Our new spot is the Turks, where the ocean is incredibly blue and the people are wonderful. Our time on the slopes are filled with enjoyment as well. There is nothing better than standing on the top of a slope in the mountains of Utah and Colorado. The views are incredible beyond words. As we teach the next generation to ski, it is our hope that this type of family gathering can continue for a long time.
Over the next school year, I am looking forward to getting to know your child and finding ways to get them eager to learn. It is my desire to develop skills that will not only enhance the education of each student within my room, but provide them with an enjoyable experience along the way. I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with your child, and I know that we will have a great time together!
