Assistant Superintendent

Dr. David Beard

With more than twenty years of experience in education, Dr. Beard has served students and families in both Maryland and Pennsylvania. After graduating from Lock Haven University with a degree in Health and Physical Education, he began his career as a teacher and coach in Rising Sun, Maryland, where he spent nearly ten years. Early opportunities to take on leadership roles sparked his interest in educational leadership and led him to earn master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership.

His administrative career began in the Solanco School District, where he served for six years as a middle school assistant principal and one year as a high school assistant principal. He later joined the Elizabethtown Area School District as a middle school principal. While at Elizabethtown, he earned his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Neumann University. His doctoral research focused on student growth, a topic that continues to shape his work and leadership philosophy.

At the heart of Dr. Beard’s leadership is the belief that all students can grow when they have the support, opportunities, and environment they need to succeed. Throughout his career, he has worked to create schools where students want to be, families feel confident and connected, and educators are proud to work and grow. He believes strong school communities are built through meaningful relationships, open communication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to doing what is best for students.
