Background of the Robotics Club
Fall 2013 - We started the robotics program in the high school to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs for students in addition to their classroom experience. The first school year the students competed in the local Adams/York County area schools using kits loaned to all competitors from Spring Grove High School's established robotics program.
Fall 2014 - We expanded the program and purchased several robotics kits so students could design, build, test, and compete a robot in the worldwide VEX Robtics Competitions. Now the students were competing with teams from across the state of Pennsylvania. The team qualified for the state champonships in their last meet of the season. There were 42 teams competing in the State Championships and the Bermudian Springs team finished as a member of the 4th place alliance.
Fall 2015 - We established the Robotics Club and purchased a second set of robotics kits establishing a second competitive team. Now we have two teams, Alpha and Bravo, with 26 students participating in the program in mulitple competitions during the year. In addition, the teams continue to compete twice a year with the local Adams/York County teams with the 'Spring Grove' kits.
