What Do Families Need To Do?
We extend an invitation for all parents to reevaluate their student’s current instructional program based upon the current state of COVID-19 and their academic performance in that model. In order to indicate a change for your son or daughter, we are asking you to complete this Google Form by 5:00 pm on February 8th.
IMPORTANTIf your son or daughter is currently attending school in our Hybrid Approach, and you want them to remain in school face-to-face, you DO NOT need to do anything.
If your son or daughter is currently enrolled in Eagles Academy, and you want them to remain in Eagles Academy, you DO NOT need to do anything.
**Only families interested in making a change to their son or daughter’s current instructional program need to complete the Google Form.**
What Are the Instructional Options?
For K-6 Students- Traditional Option: This option permits students to attend school each day Monday-Thursday as well as a half-day on Friday. This option allows students and staff to offer accommodations and support for all students on a daily basis or within each period for students. Due to this, it is recommended for students who have an IEP, 504, or require other accommodations to utilize this option.
- Eagles Academy: Fully remote learning. Students will use state-aligned and rigorous web-based courses for instruction supported by Bermudian Springs Teachers.
- Hybrid Option: Students remain in the current schedule configuration of Cherry and Steel Groups. Cherry grouped students attend school face-to-face on Monday and Wednesday as well as every other Friday. Steel grouped students attend school face-to-face on Tuesday and Thursday as well as every other Friday.
- Eagles Academy: Fully remote learning. Students will use state-aligned and rigorous web-based courses for instruction supported by Bermudian Springs Teachers
- More desks in classrooms with minimal furniture so that we can distance desks to the maximum extent possible
- Dividers on tables to safely support small group instruction for students
- Students seated every other seat in the cafeteria facing in the same direction
- Students eating lunch in varying locations based upon supervision availability
- Teachers rotating into classrooms to minimize the amount of student movement through the building
- Different seating assignments on school buses

Bermudian Springs COVID Update - January 11, 2021
12/1/2020
Good Afternoon Bermudian Springs Families:
Once again we would like to thank you for your continued support throughout the 2020-2021 school year. As we entered the school year, we stated that we may need to change our instructional model quickly, based on the number of confirmed positive cases in a rolling 14-day window. This is one of those changes. Recently, the Pennsylvania Department of Health has mandated that all Districts that offer any form of in-person face to face instruction sign an attestation form that would require schools to transition to a full remote instructional model when confirmed positive cases reach a specified number in a rolling 14-day window.
Transition to Full Remote Instruction
Based upon the requirements from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, we will be transitioning to full remote learning for BERMUDIAN SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY starting on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, through Friday, December 4, 2020. In addition, there will be no athletics for students in Grades 9-12 beginning December 1, 2020, through Sunday, December 6, 2020.
Students will return to their Hybrid Learning Model and athletics will resume on Monday, December 07, 2020 (Cherry Day).
More information will be shared only with our Bermudian Springs High School families via email that will contain specific information pertaining to our high school students' remote learning schedule.
Thank you for your continued support! We will continue to provide updated information as appropriate.
10/21/2020
Recently we conducted a survey of all parents, staff members, and students in Grades 5-12. The results of those surveys will be presented at tonight's Building &. Grounds Meeting which begins at 7:30 pm and will be live-streamed. A copy of the presentation that will be shared can be found by clicking here: Instructional Model Review Presentation - October 21, 2020

A Message to the Community:
Bermudian Springs School District was officially informed today of a confirmed case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) at Bermudian Springs High School. The individual who is the confirmed case was in attendance at the school for a brief period of time prior to being diagnosed. The individual has not been in school since earlier this week and is following the Pennsylvania Department of Health guidance on quarantine and measures to take before returning to school.
Based on the circumstances and direction provided by the Department of Health no other individuals need to be contacted nor does any further contact tracing need to occur. The Department of Health commended our organization for our adherence to the health and safety plan which minimizes the impact of this positive case.
The District will continue following all PA Department of Health guidance, including the continuation of heightened cleaning measures and continued monitoring of students and staff for any additional suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Bermudian Springs High School and all schools in the district will remain open.
We ask our families to continue monitoring your children for any symptoms of COVID-19 and to continue working with us to ensure the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff throughout this time.
Thank you for your continued support of Bermudian Springs School District

Good Morning,
We hope that you and your family continue to do well as we near the end of the 2019-20 school year. Just a reminder that the last day of school will be Friday, May 29th!
The intent of this email is to provide you with a few important reminders and an update on our planning process as we look to the 2020-2021 school year.
Campus Closure
Unfortunately, Adams County remains in the Red Phase. The guidance we have received from the PA Department of Education, as well as our solicitor, indicates that our campus will remain closed to outside individuals through the Red and Yellow phases. This includes all facilities (stadium, track, multi-purpose field). We will continue to monitor the guidance provided to us with a goal of opening up our facilities when deemed appropriate. Thank you for your patience!
Free Lunches
Friday, May 29th will be our last day of serving lunches for the 2019-20 school year.
Collection and Returning of Items
We have been working in our schools to collect all student materials, bag them up, and label them with the appropriate student name. It was our hope that we would be able to facilitate a pick-up and drop-off time towards the end of May. As of now, we are not permitted to conduct such activity. Please know that we will communicate with you when we are permitted to conduct such activity.
Please know that due to the current circumstances, we ARE NOT going to be collecting iPads from students who are returning next school year. We do plan to collect iPads from our senior students.
Planning for the 2020 - 2021 School Year
We have developed our framework and foundation for planning for multiple scenarios for 2020 - 2021. We will be planning around three possible scenarios. They are as follows:
Scenario 1: Reopen schools without significant physical distancing or other public health mitigation strategies
Scenario 2: Reopen schools with physical distancing and/or other public health mitigation strategies (hybrid model)
Scenario 3: Enhanced remote learning
Please find a copy of a presentation and more information about our planning model by click here.

Dear Bermudian Springs School District Community:
Bermudian Springs School District administration, along with health and government officials continue to monitor the latest developments regarding COVID-19, known as the coronavirus. Though we are unaware of any student or staff member in our district having or being exposed to the virus, it is important for the district to maintain open communication with you regarding our ongoing measures to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff and community.
To ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff, and to do our part in trying to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 throughout the District community and region, all Bermudian Springs School District schools will be closed from March 13, 2020 at 5:00pm, through March 29, 2020. As of now,we are planning to reopen our schools on March 30th. During our closure, offices will be staffed, but we will not allow public access except on an as needed basis.
The closure affects all programming at the school, including before- and after-school activities, all athletic and extracurricular practices and competitions, weekend events, and all facility use by outside groups. We understand that this closure may cause an inconvenience, but trust that you will support our efforts on behalf of the wellness of our community.
In order to promote instructional equity for all of our students, the district will make up the days through the use of “make-up” days, and other days available to us through communication with the Pennsylvania Department of Education. These methods will be determined once we realize the full scope of impact that closures may have in the coming weeks.
We understand that you may have questions regarding the effects of this closure. Please share those questions with your student’s building principal. Answers to many of these questions will be posted on our website in the coming days. Additionally, we are working on a plan that would enable us to provide lunch to our students at designated locations throughout our community. More information will be communicated as we organize this process.
All official District updates and information regarding COVID-19 will be sent to you via our “Bermudian Blast” platform by email or phone.
As always, protecting the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff is our utmost concern, and we will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and communicate as appropriate.
Sincerely,
Shane Hotchkiss, Ed.D
Superintendent

Coronavirus Information
You are most likely aware of the coronavirus, or COVID-19, that has become prevalent in other countries around the world. We would like to provide information from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Department of Health (DOH) on what has been done to prepare, in the event an outbreak would occur in Pennsylvania, and where you can access additional information.
There are NO reported cases of Coronavirus connected to our school district.
We are providing information to you so you are aware of this issue, and so you are assured that the Bermudian Springs School District has plans in place to monitor, prepare for and respond to any health or safety issue that may impact us. We also encourage you to use the Centers for Disease Control and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Health as trusted resources on the latest updates and guidance concerning this health issue.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health recently shared guidelines for K-12 schools with Bermudian Springs School District. We have included a link to that guidance, below, in our Coronavirus Resource Center.
The guidance included tips for reducing the spread of any illness among our community at this time, such as:** Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, do not use your hands!
** Clean surfaces frequently, such as countertops, light switches, cell phones, and other frequently touched areas. Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
** Contain if you are sick, stay home until you are feeling better.
Our schools are cleaned and disinfected daily as part of ongoing custodial services. During a time of potential heightened illness, such as flu season, our staff enhances cleaning services and has plans in place to address areas in which higher incidents of illness may occur throughout that time.
We will continue to follow all recommendations from federal, state and local health officials concerning the Coronavirus, and will continue to provide you with updates related to this issue as we receive them.
