Every school district in Pennsylvania shall develop and file with the Department of Education a Strategic Plan every 6 years. The Strategic Plan can be thought of as a roadmap on where the District is going in relation to curriculum, instruction, assessment and various other components. The Plan is developed by committees comprised of teachers, administrators, and community members and needs to be approved by the local school board.

The Bermudian Springs School District’s Strategic Plan received school board approval on September 12, 2006 and the plan was forwarded to the Department of Education by the deadline date of September 30, 2006.

The major components of the Strategic Plan and a brief description of each section include:

  • Chapter 4 - The major section of the Strategic Plan which includes the planned instruction to be offered and the instructional and assessment practices to be used to strive to achieve the academic standards for all students. This section also includes a plan for improving students’ achievement, including specific, measurable goals.
  • Professional Education Plan – This section highlights the ways in which the District will identify staff development needs and the methods for offering ongoing, professional development opportunities.
  • Teacher Induction Plan – The Induction Plan is aimed at new teachers and how the District will assist each new teacher in becoming acclimated to their new assignment as well as providing ongoing training so that each teacher can meet success in the classroom. Presently, the District provides ongoing training through sessions offered for this group of teachers throughout the school year as well as participating in the Adams/Franklin Teacher Induction Consortium.
  • Educational Technology Plan – Technology is a rapidly changing area and this section focuses on the District’s technology infrastructure, an inventory of technology tools, and a plan for the use of technology for instruction and for everyday operations.
  • Special Education Plan – The portion of the plan which outlines the services and programs designed to meet the needs of students identified as children with disabilities within the school district or intermediate unit or eligible young children within the early intervention agency.
